This year, DVC rolled in with two trucks: a tri-axle dump truck and a 1973 Mack cab. The classic Mack truck quickly became a fan favorite. Kids of all ages lined up for their chance to climb inside our dump truck and honk the horn, getting a close-up look at a real working truck.
Touch-a-Truck 2026: Big Trucks, Bigger Smiles at FirstEnergy Stadium
It was chilly and sunny at Touch-a-Truck on Sunday, May 3rd. Despite the breezy weather (unlike last year!), families showed up in full force to experience one of the community’s most exciting, hands-on events of the year.
Hosted at FirstEnergy Stadium, this year’s event brought together a variety of businesses, organizations, and nonprofits—and drew a crowd of nearly 2,000 with 45 vehicle exhibits. For Delaware Valley Contractors (DVC), it was the perfect opportunity to connect with the community, showcase our equipment, and inspire the next generation of builders, operators, and problem-solvers.
Trucks That Stole the Show
More Than Just Trucks
Touch-a-Truck isn’t just about vehicles—it’s about experiences. As families made their way through the event, they encountered everything from a school bus and stock car to a mobile crane and prisoner transfer van, each offering a unique look into different industries and services across Berks County.
There was no shortage of fun, either. Kids enjoyed:
- A train ride around the venue
- Demonstrations and hands-on activities
- Giveaways and samples from vendors
At the DVC table, we handed out mini buckets filled with candy, which went fast. It was such fun to see the smiles on their faces when they learned they could take the entire bucket, not just a piece of candy from inside it.
Building Community Connections
Positioned in the middle of the vehicle area, the DVC booth saw a steady stream of families throughout the event. It gave us a chance not only to showcase our trucks, but also to share more about who we are, what we do, and how we’re part of Empire Group.
Events like this are a powerful reminder that our work goes beyond job sites—we’re part of the community. Whether it’s supporting local events or simply sparking a child’s curiosity about construction and demolition, these connections matter.
Powered by Purpose
Behind the scenes, the Junior League of Reading once again delivered an outstanding event. Their attention to detail and commitment to the community made the entire day run seamlessly. Even more meaningful is the mission behind the event. Proceeds and support from Touch-a-Truck benefit programs focused on Women’s Leadership and Youth Empowerment—making every honk of a horn and every smile part of something bigger.
Looking Ahead
DVC is proud to have been part of such a memorable day in Reading, PA. We’re grateful to The Junior League for the opportunity and to every family who stopped by to say hello, climb aboard, or learn something new.
With another successful year in the books, we’re already looking forward to next year’s Touch-a-Truck—where we’ll bring the trucks, the team, and plenty of excitement.
